Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) and Thermal Cycling Testing
TVAC and thermal cycling tests simulate the temperature changes and environmental conditions of space to determine whether or not spacecraft and its hardware can withstand extreme temperatures, vacuum conditions and other performance parameters. From thumbnail-sized capacitors to 24-foot diameter solar arrays, our state-of-the art facilities can accommodate virtually any size of test article.
Electromagnetic Interference / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) Testing
Available as an add-on service to TVAC and thermal cycling tests, EMI/EMC testing can also be conducted. Spacecraft can emit or be affected by electromagnetic energy, which can lead to the malfunction or failure of a spacecraft’s electronic equipment. Our EMI/EMC tests determines if a system produces electromagnetic interference and its compatibility with its electromagnetic environment.
Vibration, Shock and Acoustic Testing
These tests screen hardware for defects. They can also produce the shock or acoustic spectrums experienced during the launch and separation phases to evaluate the structural integrity of spacecraft, sub-assemblies and components. We use the latest equipment and have industry experts who can deliver efficient, quality testing that meets the most rigorous requirements.
Radiation Effects
These tests evaluate an electronics component's or material’s ability to withstand exposure to radiation. Prompt dose rate testing uses a flash-x-ray to simulate a man-made environment while enhanced low dose rate sensitivity (ELDRS) reproduces radiation in the natural space environment. These tests help determine the survivability of satellites and missile systems in space.
Additional Testing
Mass Properties Testing
These tests measure the weight, center of gravity (CG), moment of inertia (MOI), and product of inertia (POI) of spacecraft. These values are important to maintain the spacecraft’s stability and control when deploying it into its orbit. Our experts perform these tests with the utmost precision and accuracy.
